I'd been looking for a 58' chase boat for months and kept hitting the same wall, boats that looked right in the photos and fell apart once you inspected them. BARNES understood what I needed it for and didn't waste my time on options that wouldn't work. When we got into negotiations, they were straight with me about where the pricing actually stood. Closed in under four weeks.

Discretion was non-negotiable for us, a boat that size, you can't have it turning into industry gossip. BARNES went direct to a short list of buyers they knew could actually close, instead of putting it on the open market. We had an offer within weeks and the whole thing was done in about three months.

Every broker we spoke to before BARNES quoted a number that was, frankly, wishful thinking, then came back a few months later asking us to drop it. BARNES told us what the boat was actually worth at the start. We listed at that number, and that's roughly where it sold.

We changed the itinerary twice, once with about a day's notice, and it was never a problem - new berth sorted, provisioning adjusted, nobody on our end had to think about it. The crew were excellent too. Genuinely one of the easiest trips we've put together.

Ten of us, a mix of ages, and I was fairly particular about the route along the Turkish coast. BARNES adjusted it a couple of times before we left based on what I was after, then handled everything on the ground - berths, permits, all of it. I didn't make a single phone call once we were out there.

There were two boats I was fairly set on that BARNES talked me out of - both had issues that only surfaced once they'd dug into the survey history. It would've been easier for them to just let me buy one and take the commission. I ended up with a better boat because they didn't.

I'd heard the horror stories from other owners about selling,  months of silence, no idea who's even looking at the boat. That wasn't our experience. I got a call or an email most weeks with an actual update, even when the update was 'no news yet.

The boat was the easy part, honestly. What I didn't expect was how much they handled on shore restaurant bookings, through their local offices, that would've taken me weeks to sort myself, tenders timed so we weren't standing around waiting. Small things, but they add up over a week.
